Kinja'd!!!

I drive the Seven as a daily driver, as long as the weather is ok. However, I've noticed one thing when I drive...

On new pavement, it vibrates. At certain speeds, usually around 61-63ish, on fresh pavement, and sometimes older pavement, I have a oscillating vibration every second or two. My guess is that the rims are out of round... I'm not a big fan of Diamond Racing rims.

(I have 15x8's in the front and 15x10's in the back; originally it was 15x7/15x8, but the 7's were out of round straight out of the factory. I had had them for quite some time before putting them on the car and noticing the wobble... so I took a risk and bought the 10's. I'm pretty sure the 10's are slightly out of round, as whenever I get a chance, and look over my shoulder at the tire, it appears to wobble slightly. I believe I remember seeing some variances when balancing the wheels, too.)

Do you think that's what the problem is? It's kinda annoying, but not critical. Eventually I plan on shedding all that unspun weight, and finding some decent rims and Hoosier road slicks.

I have no valid input to your actual question

just be sure you dont have any crap between the rotor and the rim first. A little booger of something could cause that issue.

On another note, I want to daily drive the hell out of that thing

ALSO is that a BMW 4 banger in there? Sorry if you have been through it all before, I am intrigued

I would check the spin on each wheel off the car and make sure it is something with a wheel. There are a lot of things that can cause vibration like that. It could easily be the wheel isn't being centered perfectly when mounted too. On something that light you will notice a lot more than on a normal car, just like a motorcycle.

Very possibly could be out-of-round or tire defect - it's possible to have a tire balanced correctly and still get that.

Hey, I never heard back from you. Is that helmet size okay or too small?

Huh. That's weird. I messaged you a few times on there, just messaged yesterday to see if you were still there. As an afterthought, I think medium might be best. I never heard back from the cops, in spite of several left messages and talking to a different officer. It really burns me up. I think what makes it even worse is that there's one last one for sale at my local Yamaha dealer, where I got the one before (they are discontinued), but I can't afford buying it right now. Meh.

Lol. I get up at 4:45am, shower, throw a helmet on, put sandals on, gloves, and as of late, a jacket. Climb in, and take off for work. It's only about 25 minute drive, but it makes it a lot more bearable, as well as it helps me wake up. I can't afford to be distracted when driving that.

Ding, ding, we have a winner! 1996 BP05, with what used to be a 1994 wiring harness, powered by a MegaSquirt III and a Super 16G turbo.

Hrmm... I have a feeling you put my bike to shame in a straight line. I guess it's a small consolation that you don't have any more weather protection, though.

A little more on topic - if you really can't trace the issue down, see if you can get a road-force balance done. I've never actually seen a shop with a rig for it, but on such a light car, I'd imagine it could be an issue.

I thought I responded to that. Well, if you change your mind, let me know. For cheaper helmets, you may want to check craigslist or possibly cycle gear if you have one near you. They sometimes give really good deals on discontinued models.

Does the vibration increase when you lift off the throttle?

My favorite is wet... if I knew everything was waterproof, I'd drive it in the wet. I've been caught 4 or 5 times, maybe a little more... think 1980's F1. Four huge rooster plumes, and any throttle lights the back end up. I remember back in school last year, getting caught in the rain one night, and at the bottom of a clover-leaf onramp, I pushed it a little too hard, and was sideways, right next to a semi. Yeah, I try not to do that too often.

Trying to think... usually I'm at a constant speed. I don't notice it at throttle, because that's not what I'm worried about at that point.

Everything except the engine and scuttle (dashboard). The turbo setup is my doing. I had my dad put the Megasquirt III together, as that's his kind of thing, and that way there were no re-dos.

That vibration may just be the car being a bit unbalanced.

Try shifting your humongous balls to the passenger seat, see if it helps balance things out.
